WISH Granted Brings Education to Life in St. George Area

Sydney, July 23, 2014: Babyland, a local Childcare Centre and recent winner in BizCover small business BUDDY Program, has helped bring education to life for the children who attend the Centre.

The local Carlton Centre, which opened its doors in 2008, and is privately owned and operated, by Louis and Amanda Dounis, of The Dounis Group PTY LTD has been a local small business success story having been nominated in the Champions Awards for 2012, and Finalists in the Small Business Awards for 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.

Maria Zachariadis, the Co-ordinator of Babyland Child Care Centre said, “The iPad which would be purchased from the wish granted in the BizCover Small Business Buddy Program would bring education to life. Interactive technology makes learning more engaging. Tools such as audio and video recorders and sensory touch technology can change the way that learning takes place. An iPad is a versatile, powerful tool that is changing the face of education – both students and teachers. Now content and material for all areas of learning are readily available, offering a diverse method to engage students.”

Eleni Marangos, a parent whose two children attend Babyland, added, “having iPads at my children’s Day Care Centre would increased brain stimulation due to learning new & exciting educational programs that are provided through the apps. Programs such as spelling and maths and other interactive games and menus that use sensory touch technology would put my children at an advantage for when they get older and progress to primary school. This is why I think having the children exposed to this technology would make a positive impact for the Centre and to my children’s learning and development.”

Launched this month, BizCover Founder and Managing Director Michael Gottlieb has dedicated $60,000 towards the new Small Business Buddy Program (, in a mission to give back to the SME community who they service.

Our success is due to the small business community, who have over the past seven years embraced our online insurance services over more traditional methods of buying insurance. Having the ability to help a business like Babyland, with a ‘wish’ that will further educate local children is precisely what the Small Business Buddy Program is about,” said Gottlieb.

The 800 plus wishes submitted so far include numerous requests for laptops and iPads, as well as morale-boosting grants for office coffee machines or staff lunch celebrations.

A wish will be granted by every fortnight in the form of a specific product or service valued at up to $2000. Wishes can be made by any small business with ten employees or less and an annual turnover under $2 million dollars. Businesses must have a valid ABN to apply but don’t need to be an existing BizCover customer to enter.
